Cell Wall Intelligence (CyboPal) (Chinese consumer-robotics startup) | Strategic round | Amount undisclosed | Valuation undisclosedadjacent ⚠️ Vendor-sourced

TCL Industries' strategic investment arm and Shenzhen Capital Group (Shenzhen state-backed VC) took stakes on October 27. A little over two months earlier, this Tsinghua-linked company completed a round of several hundred million RMB led by Oriental Fuhai, with follow-on investment from Legend Star (Lenovo-backed early-stage fund) and others. Its first product, the CyboPal ONE, mounts a 27-inch 4K display on a six-degree-of-freedom robotic arm so the screen follows the user's movements; it has a 6TOPS NPU and a crowdfunding price in China of RMB 12,799. The company says that over the past month it presold more than 1,000 units through overseas crowdfunding and offline channels. Founder Peng Tianfang previously built dual-arm manipulation robots for factories; he says he pivoted because large industrial customers had too much bargaining power: "build it for me at the BOM cost plus 20%." Commercialization and Deployments

Walmart Expands Symbotic Agreement, Initial Commitment of About $6 Billionindustrial

25 US regional distribution centers will be connected to Symbotic's new automation capabilities. Under the expanded agreement, Walmart's initial spending commitment is about $6 billion, to be executed over multiple years and locations, and the agreement also leaves room for other projects across Walmart's global supply chain. The new capabilities are for upstream e-commerce inventory management, expanding storage capacity, and improving the flow of goods. Symbotic Chairman and CEO Rick Cohen said the two companies' collaboration "began with a single product more than a decade ago" and has now become an end-to-end solution, including BreakPack each-picking and SymMicro micro-fulfillment. Rob Montgomery, Walmart US's executive vice president of supply chain operations, said the investments help "improve service, increase capacity, simplify associates' work and lower costs." The $6 billion is a multi-year cumulative initial amount, and the two sides did not break it down by year or by distribution center. Source: Robotics & Automation News source

Boyin Hechuang Robot Begins Trial Run on UAES Shanghai Plant Production Lineembodied

This month, the UAES Shanghai plant received the first industrial embodied robot from Boyin Hechuang, which is running trials of standardized pick-and-place on a production line. Commissioning began in June. Task accuracy is currently 80% to 90%, the battery is hot-swappable with roughly 6 hours of runtime per pack; placement deviations still require manual correction, and cycle times have not reached the level of skilled workers. Lu Ni, head of the UAES Shanghai plant, said welding, fastening and dispensing have long been done by machines, while line-side material handling, loading/unloading and bulk-parts sorting remain "highly dependent on manual labor." CEO Ren Jingwei argues that comparing only against human cycle times is not the right measure: "for high-intensity, repetitive jobs such as night shifts that workers shun, robots can run 24/7 without interruption." The Suzhou base plans to raise annual capacity to 4000 units by 2027. Investors interviewed noted that the cost of the complete robot has not yet fallen to the RMB 200,000 scale-production threshold estimated by the industry. Toyota and Yaskawa Use AI Welding Robot for Volume Production of Go-Kart Framesindustrial

Yaskawa Electric's Motoman NEXT has been welding frames at the GR Kart workshop in Gamagori, Aichi Prefecture, since September. Before welding, it checks the gaps and temperature of the tubing and then decides how to weld; after welding it runs its own quality inspection and corrects defective welds on the spot. Conventional industrial robots generally only repeat preset programs. The technology comes from the SFA welding method developed in 2024 by Toyota GAZOO Racing and Yaskawa, which at the time cut the production time for rally-car roll cages from two or three weeks to about three days. Toyota says the new application lowered GR Kart's production cost; the kart's suggested retail price in Japan is ¥385,000. Source: Daily Tribune source

Industry Developments

First Batch of Chinese-Product Government Procurement Standards Out for Comment, Industrial Robot Threshold 70%industrial

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Finance have released draft standards for the first batch of government procurement of Chinese-made products, covering five products, including fixed articulated industrial robots. The draft sets a threshold of 70% for the cost share of components produced in China for this class of robot, to take effect 3 years after the standard is issued; core components and processes meeting certain technical requirements must be produced and completed within China. Of the other four, portable Fourier-transform infrared gas analyzers and reverse-osmosis water treatment equipment share the same 70% threshold, taking effect 5 years after issuance. Small and medium helicopters have a 60% threshold and field-emission scanning electron microscopes 50%, both taking effect after 3 years. In September 2025 China set out the overall qualifying conditions and supporting policies for government procurement of Chinese-made products; this is the first batch of product-specific standards released for public comment since then. The two ministries said the thresholds were set based on surveys of major companies in China and expert review; after feedback is received, the standards will be revised, submitted for approval and issued, and standards for other products will then be drawn up in batches. Midea-Affiliated Yinghe Robotics Enters Bankruptcy Proceedingsadjacent

On October 19, the Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court held the first creditors' meeting for Yinghe (Shenzhen) Robotics, about two months after the court announced it had accepted the bankruptcy review. Yinghe was founded in 2020; the actual controller of its controlling shareholder, Yingfeng Group, is He Jianfeng, son of Midea founder He Xiangjian. Its valuation exceeded $500 million in the tenth month after founding, and its Series A brought in strategic investment from Meituan and from ByteDance, with total funding raised exceeding RMB 600 million. Its last operating data: 2025 revenue of RMB 4.33 million and a net loss of RMB 67 million. In 2021 it signed a base in Shunde with total planned investment of RMB 10 billion, and no production has been seen since. A workshop project for Foshan Lighting ran two years overdue and failed final acceptance; the court's final ruling ordered Yinghe to return RMB 26.904 million, and the equipment removed was appraised at about RMB 49.74 million, with both auctions failing to attract bids. In June, Li Lun, founding partner of Panda Capital (Chinese VC firm), posted a video in his capacity as a director, saying that some core executives earned more than RMB 3 million a year after tax and that renovating the 2,600-square-meter office cost RMB 28 million. This is Li Lun's unilateral disclosure; Yingfeng Group and He Jianfeng have not responded publicly. Source: Guancha.cn source

After Unitree (Chinese quadruped and humanoid robot maker) reported lower Q3 profit, Jiemian News broke down its results alongside the financial statements of six supply-chain companies. Unitree's Q3 gross margin was 50.58%, down 8.36 percentage points year on year and about 4 percentage points quarter on quarter. Net operating cash flow for the first three quarters was RMB 194 million, down 54.69% year on year. Based on a total market capitalization of RMB 281.5 billion at the October 28 close and simple annualization of first-three-quarter revenue, the price-to-sales ratio is about 116x. Joint-module maker Leadshine (Chinese motion-control maker) saw first-three-quarter net profit attributable to shareholders rise 86.80%, though its products are mainly used in semiconductor and optical communication equipment. Sanhua Intelligent Controls (Chinese thermal-components maker) saw Q3 net profit attributable to shareholders fall 9.64%, and a person close to the company said the timing of volume robot supply is "subject to customer demand." Tuopu Group (Chinese auto-parts maker) has made small-batch deliveries of actuators and dexterous-hand motors, which account for a very low share of revenue. Source: Jiemian News source

ByteDance Seed Hiring for a Dozen or So Robotics Roles, Aiming to Move from Demo to Stable Deliveryembodied
